Thank you for visiting my site.

I am a London based freelance lighting designer, touring re-lighter and technician working predominately in theatre and contemporary dance, with extensive experience in international work.

This is a review of my recent design for PIT Theatre Company of 'A Stroke of Genius' at Pleasance Islington and Edinburgh

“visually striking… far from just a gimmick, light of all kinds is an important theme: towards the end it adopts an almost physical quality, as the sinister baddie Mr Product menaces the cowering Ali… It’s easy to overlook, but what enables all these visually arresting moments is the utterly flawless movement and timing. Every character and prop is positioned in exactly the right beam of light. Innovative, thought provoking and full of low-key humour, A Stroke Of Genius is what the Fringe is all about. I'll remember it for its tricks of the light and, even more, for its perfect execution on stage.” Richard Stamp, Fringe Guru

Recent lighting designs include 'Frank and Ferdinand' (Islington Community Theatre), 'Romeo and Juliet' and 'The Hate Play' (Box Clever), 'Primary Voices' (Quicksilver), 'Epiphany' (Theatre Is), 'The First Thing That Ever Happened' (Lyric Hammersmith), 'A Stroke of Genius' (PIT Theatre Company), 'Birds of a Feather' (Ffin Dance), 'Find Me' (Bridge Theatre Company) and 'Watercolours' (Quicksilver).

I am currently intermittently on tour re-lighting for Hofesh Shechter dance company. Recent relights include touring 'Horse' (Company FZ), 'The Last Resort' (Strangeface) transfer to Iran, tour of 'Oh What A Lovely War!' (Northern Stage) 'Cinderella' at Warwick Arts Centre for the Lyric Hammersmith, tour of 'The Hypochondriac' (English Touring Theatre), tour of 'Whiter Than Snow' (Graeae), tour of The Brothers Size (ATC/Young Vic),  tour of The English Game (Headlong Theatre) and tour of Act One (Vincent Dance Theatre).

I am always particularly interested in international work, and have experience working across Europe, America and the Middle East.

In 2006 I won the
Michael Northen Bursary Award from the Association of Lighting Designers for showing 'exemplary talent in lighting design' and 'strong creative flair' for my lighting design for Egbert in the Underworld.

When I am not at a production desk, I galavant around the world with my backpack. Details of my adventures can be seen here
