OTHER

I am the 2006 winner of the Michael Northen Bursary award from the Association of Lighting Designers, an award for showing ‘exemplary talent in lighting design’ and ‘creative flair’. Examples of my work can be seen at http://www.ald.org.uk/bio.php?number=1492.

I spent 3 months in 2008 travelling solo in India and Nepal. Highlights include mountain biking down the highest road in the world (5606m), teaching in a remote Ladakh school, and being the first non-Nepalese person to visit a remote village where I spent 5 days during the Hindu festival of Dasain. In Nepal I trekked for 15 days with a 21Kg pack to Everest Base Camp (5364m), Kala Patthar peak (5550m), Gokyo Ri peak (5357m), Nangkar Tshang peak (5083m), and managed to survive crossing Cho La Pass (5368m) which is considered ‘challenging mountaineering’ by Lonely Planet. Above 5000m there is just 50% of the oxygen available at sea level. In July 08 I walked and climbed solo 70Km through Spain’s toughest mountains, the Picos de Europa range. In 2005 I enjoyed travelling on a round-the-world plane ticket to India, Kashmir, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, and California with a friend. I especially enjoyed camping and trekking in the Kashmiri Himalayas, teaching in rural Thailand, and throwing myself out of planes and off cliffs in New Zealand. Hobbies include top-rope climbing.

I am a member of the Association of Lighting Designers and BECTU with public liability insurance. Registered as self-employed. Standard Disclosure CRB.

Experience of moving light programming on ETC Congo and Avolites Azure. Small amount of experience with Avo Pearl and Zero 88 Frog II. Generic programming experience on Strand 300 and 500 series, ETC Expression range, Zero 88 Frogs and Compulite consoles. Experience of operarting analogue sound desks.

As well as standard computer programmes, I have experience using AutoCAD and Vectorworks CAD software and Adobe Audition/ Cool Edit Pro and Avid Xpress Pro sound and film editing software.
